PATRIPOTESTAL
Patripotestal family is a type of family in which all source of authority belongs to the paternal side. The oldest male or the father is the head of the family and he exercises his authority over the members of the family. The patrilineal family is also patrilocal and patripotestal. This is a general pattern of family found all over the world. In India, patripotestal families are found in Gond, Santhal, Bhil and Ho tribes. The tribals of the North-east also have patrilineal type of family. In this family, major decisions are taken by the male head and successor is also appointed by the male head of family.
