Dormitories

The most important social institution in the tribal social organisation is the youth organization. Every tribal society has its youth organization is a type of organization with a focus on providing activities and socialization for minors. Members of youth organizations are only unmarried boys and girls. In every tribal society, there are different names, different structures and different age groups of people. In India, some tribal societies have bisexual (boys and girls) and monosexual (boys and girls in separate groups) youth groups. Each group has its own organisation in some tribal societies. Every tribal society has its own youth organization and every tribal society calls its youth organization by different names. These organizations are centred in significant buildings known as dormitories.

For example, Memi has two names for it, the men’s dormitory being called ikhuichi and the women’s iloichi. The Angami Naga calls it kichuki.
